Update on Victorian restrictions

Temporary restrictions and border closures have been announced in response to the spread of coronavirus in Victoria.

Work-related travel may not be possible because of the impact of coronavirus. Some state and international borders have closed and there are travel restrictions in place.

Directing employees not to travel

Employers can direct employees not to undertake work-related travel if this is:

  • needed to meet workplace health and safety obligations
  • otherwise a lawful and reasonable direction.

Employers can’t direct an employee to not undertake private travel.
